MAΘ Timers
Welcome to the Mu Alpha Theta timers, presented by the FAMAT Student Delegates!
These timers were designed to streamline self-practicing. Notable features include automatic warnings and color changes at the proper times, optional automatic countdown for the start of the timer, various preset styles, and custom single-round timers.
We also encourage sponsors to use the timers in a competition setting for ease and accuracy, but the audio/video setup required to use them as intended is often non-trivial. The optimal setup is to have the sound play loud enough for the entire room to hear, with the screen on a projector for the entire room to see. If you are unable to broadcast the sufficient sound from your device, do not check the box labeled "Use automatic voice countdown," which creates a delay ("Ready - Begin!") between pressing Start and the timer actually starting. Also, if you are unable to display the screen, consider using the timers' colors to signal yourself to announce the appropriate warnings.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the timers before use, especially if used in any Mu Alpha Theta competition. We cannot be held responsible for any mistakes in scoring or administration.
Final note: using the timers in some browsers may produce undesired results, such as Internet Explorer. Best results are in Google Chrome on any platform (iOS 6+ if using an Apple device).
The purpose of these timers is to make the timing process in Mu Alpha Theta easier and less prone to error. That means no more fuss with stopwatches and saying the right minute, missing the time warning marks, etc.
All behaviors are based on the most recent official Mu Alpha Theta rules, which can be found starting on page 4 of this document.
